Can an Sd Card From an Android Phone Be Read by an Ms Windows Computer

  1. MannyZ28's Avatar

Then for whatever reason, my computer no longer sees the internal storage and the sd carte on my phone. Information technology finds the phone itself, but just identifies it every bit a modem. I am running Windows 7. Any ideas on how to gear up that?

Do you have USB debugging enabled on your phone? If not enable information technology.

Hmm, the drives showed up, but I can't access them. They act like a bill of fare reader with no carte plugged in.

Are y'all pulling downward your notification bar, clicking the notification and so hitting the "Connect USB storage" button? You can besides get to this by Bill of fare > Settings > Wireless and network > USB utilities and striking "Connect storage to PC". In this example, you volition plug in your telephone later on yous hit the push button.

If you're doing this, the last thing I can call back of is your computer has a USB driver issue or your cable went bad.

How-do-you-do, I was reading through this thread considering I am experiencing a like issue on my Samsung 4G LTE. I simply purchased it and was able to access the DCIM folder besides every bit any other folder (music etc.) only now when I plug the phone in to my desktop, I find the phone shown as a drive but clicking on information technology opens a blank window that often has a green slider bar that chugs in the directory window merely finds zilch. Using the advice from this thread, I institute USB Debugging through Settings>Developer Options>USB debugging and see that option is checked. I don't see another section specific to USB debugging in the settings carte. Is there another answer to this other than a USB cable or device driver?

    Hi, Jef.
I've constitute the similar event on my samsung tablet SM-T110.
I've found that if I copy files from my figurer to the tablet, into the folder "Dowloads" I can then discover them from tablet and to use.
And so, the communication works in 1 management.
Only I wasn't able to read whatsoever tablet's files, even that ones I copied before, from my PC.
I've turned on the USB debugging, simply I was able only to switch betwixt two options: connect my tablet as "Media device"(MTP) or as "Camera".
In "Camera" manner I was able to read from tablet the pictures that I made by the tablet's camera. Only the other my files are not visible fifty-fifty from the same folder.
So, I'yard nonetheless very curious, how to read Whatsoever kind of files from my Android device.
    Alex.

Data files, videos, music, etc will not bear witness up, so I obviously tin't transfer them. It worked fine using windows 7. I'm hating windows x more and more each day. Anybody know if this is the style windows ten wants it? Or is information technology some kind of issues? Is there any way to fix information technology? I'k using a Samsung Milky way S4.

Figured it out on my telephone, (LG Nexus five). When you connect the USB cable to the PC, the phone gives a notification that it is charging. Tap that notification and you will become a menu. Yous'll probably see it set to "charge only" mode. Select the choice for "MTP", mobile transfer protocol. It turned out to be a very simple fix. T-Mobile Support couldn't assistance. Android Support tried, but, couldn't figure it out. I had tried the new Google USB drivers. I had tried going into Developer Mode, etc. I'm pretty sure information technology all started when I ran the latest Android Bone upgrade to vi.0.

I used to become the option to switch charging to file transfer, at present in that location is no notification in the bar at all. (Also an LG Nexus 5). I have gone to tethering and it is grayed out showing the USB is not continued when the same string is plugged in. I tried a different USB cord, zero.

The advice on this thread helped me but I was unable to encounter a certain subset of files. I think I take figured out the cause so I will add another slice of communication here.

I was unable to see pictures in a certain engagement range when I was on holiday no matter what I did. All the other files were visible, only not these; only they were available on the telephone, and file manager software on the telephone could meet them. Just not Windows.

Somewhen I realized that those pictures were taken with another simcard in the phone (I bought a simcard for the state where I was at). Afterwards I got dwelling and swapped the simcard again, everything worked only I had to reconfirm all the permissions. Apparently, when you alter simcard in an Android phone the Os interprets this every bit a new owner, which is reasonable I approximate, and it will non requite y'all admission to certain things unless you lot reconfirm them. I don't know exactly how, but Windows somehow knows which files are stamped with the "other identity" and merely those files will exist missing from Windows explorer. I saw a couple of other people hither whose situations might exist caused by the same trouble.

And then if aught else works, ask yourself, "were the files I am looking for created with another simcard in the telephone"? And if the reply is yes, yous might be able to make them come in Windows again if you replace that simcard in the device then try once again.

That is speculation because I didn't actually solve my problem that mode. Instead, I used a file navigator app within Android to go to the files; then I highlighted them, and saved them to a cloud drive that was synced with Windows. In one case they synced, they were and so available to copy directly into my Windows box.
